The group of houses forming this village has been adapted, in its growth, to the uneven aspect of its land. A hill culminating with the ruins of an old castle protects the village from the North winds and from being observed by the sea.

Sa Riera, Aiguafreda, Sa tuna, Platja Fonda, Fornells and Aiguafreda are the six main coves of the coast of Begur.

In each of these, little groups of blocks of flats and tourist facilities have been built. From one to another there are many solitary corners of different shapes and colours changing on the land as well as in the water, with pine trees hanging from the rocks as if trying to bend to touch the sea.
