A municipality of the Alt Empordà situated in the middle section of the Muga valley; the area is also drained by one of its tributaries –the Llobregat d’Empordà. The irrigated land makes use of the water from the river Muga which comes through the irrigation canals of El Molí and La Font. The main agricultural produce are vegetables, the trilogy of maize –wheat– lucern and the vineyards. |

The primitive nucleus of Molins was already referred to in the 10th. century and it was there that the ancient Castle of Molins and the primitive parish church took roots. Within the municipality there is the sanctuary of El Roure. |

z??+?age has grown up on the left of the river Muga, and downstream there is the old nucleus of Molins de Dalt around the bridge which crosses the Muga and forms part of the Barcelona-Perpinyà road. The parish church, which had been an auxiliary to that of Llers, was finished in 1789. The population didn’t gain its autonomous municipality from Llers until the 18th. century. |
